The correct answer is British General Thomas Gage. He was a prominent British Army officer who played a significant role during the American Revolutionary War. Known for his leadership in various military engagements, Gage was also connected to Patrick Ferguson, who is notable for his role in early battles against American forces.

Ferguson was an officer known for his marksmanship and for advocating the use of rifles in the military, greatly influencing British tactics at the time. His relationship with Gage is underscored by their collaboration during the conflicts in North America.

The other individuals listed have different historical significances and associations. General George Washington was the commander of the Continental Army and a key figure against British forces, but he did not serve as an aide to Ferguson. Major General Charles Cornwallis was a British Army officer best known for his surrender at Yorktown, which marked a pivotal point in the American Revolution, while Colonel Henry Knox served as the chief artillery officer for the Continental Army and was not associated as an aide to Ferguson.
